Cuban Flavored Jazz – Herrera Style
Nachito Herrera is more than modest when it comes to sharing and expressing his passion to others over his musical melting pot of Cuban Jazz. The 24 members of the Theoroi group got a taste of this this prelude to his performance at the Dakota Jazz Club in December when he made a personal appearance to sit and talk with us. We were only able to average two direct questions per hour in-between his flavorful and vibrant description of his development and perspective of how to study Jazz. Not only mastering the chords but how to overcome distractions such as audience noise that could potential place a halt on your concentration.
The performance was about an hour and a half composed from a great mix of piano, percussion, and bass. Topping the event was the addition of vocals by his daughter, who soon will be shipping out to support out national guard and as a result made an excellent holiday tribute to our troops. The environment created by the small musical group and Herrera family warmed the entire restaurant and they only thanked us for attending with hopes to perform for anyone in the future upon request. Between the great Cuban Jazz, the excellent service from the Dakota Jazz Club Management, and the Theoroi group company it was a great night!
