STRAUSS Dance of the Seven Veils and Final Scene, from Salome 25′
MAHLER/Cooke Symphony No. 10 67′

Get ready for an electrifying Strauss extravaganza! No one performs the Strauss heroines like American soprano Deborah Voigt. With a soaring voice, she reaches into the soul of her character—in Salome, the richest dramatic creation in all of opera. The seductive Dance of the Seven Veils flows right into the opera’s shocking final scene. Then, from Strauss’ great contemporary, Gustav Mahler, we hear the otherworldly serenity of his final symphony. With these concerts, we celebrate our final Classical season performances in Orchestra Hall.
